Visiting The Gloss Book Club Edinburgh

One of the best things about publishing a novel is getting the chance to meet readers and hear their thoughts about the book. This week I had the pleasure of visiting The Gloss Book Club Edinburgh, which had chosen Turn Back Time for its May discussion.
The Gloss has more than 120,000 members across 15 countries and 125 communities worldwide, and I was delighted to be invited along to meet the Edinburgh chapter for what became the group's first ever author event.
We met at The Botanist on a beautiful spring evening and spent the night talking about Erica, the protagonist of Turn Back Time, as well as the themes of the novel, the writing process and the often surprising journey from idea to publication.

Rather than speaking to the group as a whole, I moved from table to table throughout the evening, which meant I got to hear lots of different perspectives on the book and answer a wide range of questions. One of the most rewarding parts of any book club visit is discovering which moments readers connected with most, and which scenes made them laugh.
As an author, it's easy to spend months or even years writing in isolation, so opportunities like this are incredibly special. Hearing readers discuss the characters, themes and ideas that lived in your head for so long is a real privilege.
Huge thanks to Debra Anne and everyone at The Gloss Book Club Edinburgh for such a warm welcome and for making Turn Back Time part of the group's reading list for 2026. If your book club is reading Turn Back Time and would like me to join a discussion, either in person or virtually, I'd love to hear from you.
